Eco Tourism in Pandam Wildlife Park

Pandam Wildlife Park, formerly known as Pandam Game Reserve was founded in 1972 in Pandam at less than an hour drive from Lafia. It once house chalets to accommodate visitors, but the old buildings haven’t been renovated in a while, but it’s still a great place to camp. The park has over 224 sq km of forest and savanna wetland and we can find different species of antelopes, warthogs, hogs, monkeys, duikers and birds. The biggest attraction here might actually be the presence of the manatees in the Pandam Lake, who live among the local hippos.

We leave early in the morning from Abuja and will be having a pic-nic on arrival in the park. We’ll have the afternoon and the following day to explore the park as much as possible before we head back to Abuja on the third day. We’ll discover the park on foot and by dugout canoe, looking for birds and shy animals.

The best time to visit is during the dry season, but you can visit the park during the rainy season as well if you are ok with some mud and can deal with the car maybe being stuck. Please bring adequate clothing, hiking shoes, enough socks, mosquito repellent, mosquito net, sunglasses, sunscreen, some basic medication, a torch and make sure all your equipment is charged or can be charged through a power bank/batteries.
